      Customer Support Representative Interview

      12 Mar 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HackerRank in Mar 2015

      Interview

Applied online and heard back from a recruiter about a week and a half later. She was very responsive and we scheduled an phone interview/screen immediately. I had a better impression of her via email. During the actual phone interview, she asked the basic questions (i.e. why I was interested in HackerRank, what did I know about it, why was I looking for another job) but didn't really go into asking questions about my resume/qualifications. To be honest, she was not easy to connect with and seemed bored the entire time, which is a shame because one can only be so enthusiastic for so long before realizing something is going absolutely nowhere. At the end, I asked her a bunch of questions regarding the company, her experience, the culture, and the job specifications and then I asked if she had any questions regarding my qualifications or if there was anything that I could clarify, but she just said that she could see on my resume that I was definitely experienced and that she could just look there to see what I could do. HackerRank - you should hire people who are more excited about your company to be your recruiters. If you expect me to be excited at your company, you should be excited as well. It is extremely hard to interview for a company and be pumped up when you go into it only to find out that the person you are speaking to seems (1) uninterested, (2) under-prepared, and (3) not personable.

      Interview

Applied online. In about 2 weeks got an email from HR manager to schedule a phone interview. It was a quick phone conversation (20 mins or so). Hiring manager was asking generic questions.

      Question 1

Pretty standard set of questions. E.g.: 1. What is your background? 2. What do you know about this company? 3. Why would you like to work for this company?
