Overall the interview team was professional, prompt and informative. I applied on a whim, wasn't really interested in the position, but the recruiter encouraged me to continue with the process. It would've been a step down from my current position but the recruiter made a good sales pitch so I continued with the process. After speaking with a few people, I quickly realized this was not a collaborative or fun place to work. No one I spoke with had an answer to the question, "what do you enjoy about working at Handshake?" Though some people I spoke with were experienced, they were quite arrogant and condescending in the way they talked about other applicants and companies in the tech startup space.
Their mission, "to democratize career opportunities for all students" is a little ingenuine. Don't be fooled. A more accurate statement would be "to democratize fortune 500 companies' access to wealthy students." Their freemium model is just a copy of linkedin/indeed.
