Phone interview with hr and then call with hiring manager. I had a call with the hr manager and she set up a call with the hiring manager. I had prepared for the call by writing detailed answers with examples for each bullet point listed in the job description so that I would answer the questions well focusing on what they were looking for. The hiring manager called me 10 minutes after the scheduled time and I thought the call was going well but she abruptly asked me if I was interested in partnership and I said yes and she said well this isn't a partnership job this is an audience job and I said well I have audience experience and she said no this is very different and I will tell the hiring manager to keep you in mind for other positions at Hearst and abruptly got off the phone. I followed up with the hr manager and never heard anything back. Needless to say I am not thrilled. It is very difficult to get a chance to speak to someone at any company these days so when things go this far left in an interview it is distressing to say the least. How else should a person prep for a call like this? It almost seems like they had a quota and needed to speak to one more minority before they hired whichever candidate they already had in mind.
