There was an initial phone interview with the recruiter that lasted about thirty minutes. About a week later there was a video interview with the hiring manager and the director to discuss the scope of the work, as well as a little more information on the organization. The vibe was immediately off when both interviewers shared how long they’ve been in their respective roles, and focused on one question for thirty minutes. The hiring manager has held the same middle management position for over a decade, which is very concerning to me. Either they’re complacent or lacks the confidence to advance. I’ve experienced this before, and it doesn’t go over well. To that end. I immediately lost interest, as I knew that there was no encouragement for career advancement or mentorship.
