I was approached by a recruiter and initially told the process would be three rounds. As I progressed, additional rounds kept being added, ultimately reaching five. The final added round was meant to be onsite, which I declined given how drawn out the process had become, especially for a role with relatively low compensation for San Francisco.
After completing a panel interview in the third round, I was asked to meet again with the same hiring manager to re-explain and defend my earlier responses. The conversation felt more like being scrutinized and nitpicked than a typical interview.
Overall, not a great experience. It helps explain why the role has remained open for so long.
