I called the restaurant asking if they are looking for servers/bartenders after seeing a post they made on craigslist. They told me I can come in between 2-5pm with a resume to fill an application.
The next day I came in, dressed nice (they really pay attention to how you dress and look, so make sure everything is neat!, the way you dress and treat your appearance reflects a lot). I was given an application to fill, quite simple. I handed over the application and resume and waited to be interviewed.
After about 20 minutes a manager came and interviewed me for about 5-6 minutes, just to understand who I am and what are my thoughts about hospitality and so on. Make sure you show your personality and smile. After that interview I received a test with 50 questions and 12 minutes to answer. When you are done they will check it on the spot, if you pass you will get another interview with another manager. Well, I passed and moved to another interview with a different manager, my guess the assistant GM. After about 2-3 minutes I was told I will continue to another interview with the GM. After waiting a few minutes the GM came and interviewed me for another 10 minutes. I was told to come to shadow a waiter for a few hours on a Friday night to see how I do on a regular shift.
Guys, they take the hiring process seriously, for every position. Take it seriously, smile, and most chances you will get the opportunity to move on to a try-out.
I filled a background check and came back on Friday, dressed in black(black tie as-well). GM told me to follow a waiter for a few hours. At the end of the night we sat together and I was told I did fine and I am going to move to the final hiring process - the Skype interview with HR. I was given pointers since the Skype interview really determines if you will be hired or not.
After 2 days I had the Skype interview (actually ZOOM). The interview was 10 minutes long, questions about myself and why I want to work at Hillstone. at the end I was told to wait 24 hours for an answer (which got me nervous to be honest! after working Friday night the will and eager to work there turned into a strong will! they are super professional and treat you respectfully, something that is quite rare to find in this industry).
I was told the next day that I got the job and that I am going to start training (6 day long)
I am super excited to start working there as a server!
