Interview
Interview consist of 3 rounds namely Group discussion followed by Group task and Personal interview. Group discussion consist of giving a common topic to the team to discuss on come up with conclusions.Group is almost similar to group discussion but with a task given to solve logically and finally personal interview is to test candidate skills in every area of concern to the company.

Interview
The HPCL campus placement drive took place in August 2024. The process started with category-wise shortlisting of students. On the first day, there was a pre-placement talk (PPT) where the company gave an overview of their work culture, job role, and expectations. After that, document verification was done for the shortlisted candidates. The next day, a group discussion (GT) round was conducted, again category-wise. Based on the GT performance, HPCL selected 12 candidates in total — 4 each from SC/ST, OBC/EWS, and General categories — out of around 34 participants. After the GD, personal interviews were conducted one by one for the selected candidates.

Question 1
In the GT round, we were given a case study with three questions to discuss as a group. From my group, they selected the one who initiated, the one who concluded, and two who contributed meaningfully in between — I was one of the two. The interview was HR-based with a panel of 7 members, including a woman and a psychiatrist who also observed us during the GT. It started with a basic introduction about myself and my family. Since I mentioned my internship, they asked about that next, followed by a few questions from my biodata.
Questions included:
1. Name some electrical PSUs
2. Reason for your drop year
3. Why did you choose electrical engineering?
4. How was your GT and overall experience?
The interview went well and I felt positive afterward, but I didn’t get the offer. In the end, 4 students from each category were selected.

3 stage interview: Group Discussion, Group Task and Personal Interview. You need not shout in the GDs to make yourself heard. To the point approach is all that's needed.
