      Application

I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at HomeLight

      Interview

Hands down, the most arduous and painful interview experience of my entire 20+ year career. The process took over 8 weeks. I had 5 interviews (1 call with a recruiter and 4 Zoom interviews) and was given an assignment to complete. I was completely forgotten about during scheduled interviews not once, but twice. As a qualified candidate interviewing for multiple different positions within the company, I felt incredibly disrespected. Both of those interviews had to be rescheduled, which added 2 additional weeks to the process. After every interview, all of which were like pulling teeth to try to schedule, I had to beg for feedback and to schedule my next interview within a reasonable timeframe. I consider myself persistent, especially in my professional life, but the extent to which I had to follow up, multiple times a day, every single day, you’d think I was the recruiter, not the candidate. I honestly believe that, if I wasn’t as persistent, I would have been completely forgotten about after my first initial call with the recruiter. (Which, coincidentally, took about 10 missed call attempts, a no call, no show by the recruiter for a scheduled call and a subsequent e-mail to HR to finally make happen. (The fact that I had to involve HR before the interview process even began should have been a blinding red flag.)) During the 2+ month interview process, I was offered another position. The position was out-of-state and required me to relocate. As you can imagine, a timely response to the offer was expected. I mentioned this to the recruiter with the hope that it would help decrease the lack of communication and urgency, but it didn’t, the process continued to move at a glacial pace. A week or so after my 5th and final interview, I finally received a text from the recruiter letting me know that the position I was being considered for was being put on hold for a few weeks. After pushing for additional feedback, so as not to be left hanging for another 8 weeks wondering if I’m still even being considered, I received another text from the recruiter saying that they wouldn’t be moving forward with me as a candidate when the role opens back up, followed by an apathetic “sorry.” All-in-all, it was a colossal waste of time. One positive note - Everyone I met with during the interview process was nice. It’s truly unfortunate that my interview process was so catastrophically horrible, and even more unfortunate that this company clearly misses out on top talent because of their own incompetencies.

Thank you for your honest feedback on your experience interviewing with our team — this is the first we’ve heard of it. We strive to prioritize candidate experience in our interview process, though it’s clear that we failed to do so here. We apologize for the less than stellar experience you had while interviewing for and considering a role on our team. Please know we’ve heard your feedback and will be addressing our processes internally. If you have anything else you’d like to share, please feel free to reach out at hr@homelight.com.
