      Recruiter Interview

      25 July 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Hoops

      Interview

Applied for a remote recruiter role, and was contacted immediately for a phone interview via text & email. Interviewer called me several minutes late, which happens, and proceeded to tell me about the company and the role. Questions were asked and answered. 25 minutes into interview the interviewer said “both your background and your experience are amazing but you didn’t mention “LinkedIn Recruiter” or “texting passive candidates” during our discussion, so that tells me that you’re not skilled in current recruiting techniques.” She continued, “also, you mentioned data architects, and that skill has changed a lot since your last recruiting job.” I was speechless…then the person interviewing me said “due to these things, I will not be moving forward with you, this is not the job for you. We need someone who can hit the ground running, and when I’ve brought people on like you a lot of training needs to be done, and those people generally don’t work out.” Seriously, yikes!! If you’re a professional with more than 10 years of experience, beware of Hoops. Ageism is alive and living within this company.

      Easy interview

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hoops (Dallas, TX)

      Interview

There was 1 phone interview and 1 video interview with another person from the team. Interviews were decent and allowed me to ask questions. Pay per activity was confusing though.

      Interview

For a company that hires remote workers throughout the country, there is little to no diversity amongst any of their employees, especially upper management. There are women, yes, but every employee I interacted with was white. Even from a quick LinkedIn search, I did not see a single person of color. As a growing HR company, there should be more of a focus on DEI efforts especially if you are hiring nationally - you should relate to more of the national demographics. Also, DEI does not just mean having "inclusive" imagery on your home page. It must be a genuine effort in practice as well throughout the company.
