I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Hopper (Montreal, QC)
Interview
I had the first interview via Skype with their Product Owner, and it was a great conversation. She said that she was looking for someone like me in the design team and everything, and I was pretty confident that I could get the job. She said that they would send me a test and that she would verify how is the process for getting me a work visa to work in the Montreal Office.
I waited for a week, and nothing happened — no test, no message, nothing. I tried to make contact with her and the HR, who was taking care of the process and nothing.
So I think it was a tremendous lack of respect and empathy with someone who admired the company and was even a user of the app.

Question 1
Tremendous lack of respect and empathy with someone who admired the company and was even a user of the app.
It started with a recruiter call, which was pleasant, and then I was given a design challenge immediately. It would've been nice to be able to talk to the hiring manager first before jumping right into the design challenge.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Hopper in June 2024
Interview
The interview process was quite lengthy and included a design challenge, which was only used during the initial round. Unfortunately, the manager’s call felt less like an opportunity to learn about me as a candidate and more like an attempt to verify I wasn’t a fit, which made for a disappointing and uncomfortable conversation.

Question 1
Why are you interested in this position and how does your past experience align with the role?
Applied online and interviewed online. Went through a screen call with HR, who was nice and welcoming. Then went through a portfolio review with the hiring manager.
The hiring manager didn’t seem to be interested in the work and responded plainly like a robot. Felt a bit disrespected. Got a rejection letter next day.
