Interview
The process took almost 8 weeks during the summer of 2019 and I had 2 meetings in person with the Lead Designer, 2 calls with HR and Management, 1 design test, and some follow-up emails.
Honestly, the design test should be renamed "free consulting work". I felt they give the design test to all candidates even if they already know they will not hire them.
Also after I presented the work, the lead designer followed-up with questions by email about the strategy and what I would do if X and Y. Finally after 8 weeks, the recruiting experience has been ended with a very ordinary rejection email from HR. It's fine that I didn't get the job and I have no doubt they found someone who was better. But after such a long process, free work, and meeting 3 times with the same lead designer you expect a personal note from him to close the process and not an HR email that just sounds like a template.
It started with a recruiter call, which was pleasant, and then I was given a design challenge immediately. It would've been nice to be able to talk to the hiring manager first before jumping right into the design challenge.

Interview
The interview process was quite lengthy and included a design challenge, which was only used during the initial round. Unfortunately, the manager’s call felt less like an opportunity to learn about me as a candidate and more like an attempt to verify I wasn’t a fit, which made for a disappointing and uncomfortable conversation.

Question 1
Why are you interested in this position and how does your past experience align with the role?
Applied online and interviewed online. Went through a screen call with HR, who was nice and welcoming. Then went through a portfolio review with the hiring manager.
The hiring manager didn’t seem to be interested in the work and responded plainly like a robot. Felt a bit disrespected. Got a rejection letter next day.
