      I interviewed at Hopper

      Interview

This is a warning to all Technical Recruiters - During the second step of the interview process, they asked me to source for candidates for their technical recruiter position. Like, they wanted me to give them real candidates for a open position. Additionally, they wanted me to draft up how I would contact the candidates. I totally get that they want to make sure that I’m able to source. However, the task is a lot to ask for a candidate. Especially, when Hopper does not have any actual recruiters on staff at this time. I was interviewed by someone with no recruiting experience, so they were unable to answer basic questions like time to fill rate. Their current recruiting team in nonexistent. It felt like I was giving them free work. I did what they asked BUT I blocked out the names and current titles of the people that I sourced. Sorry, I do not work for free. Of course, I did not move on to the next step in the hiring process. I had a feeling I was not going to move forward. I tried to answer questions with details but not too detailed. I would have been happy to elaborate over the phone. However, I did not feel comfortable giving them a full detailed recruiting plan. I would be more comfortable if they asked how I would use a Boolean string to find candidates. NOT - give me candidates.
