I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Hotjar in Sept 2022
Interview
First, the recruiter was contacted.
Then I was given a tech task to complete within a week. Also, I joined their slack channel which was an interesting experience.
Then we had a task review and Q&A.
I was more than sure that I have succeded the interview but after 4 days I got the rejection email :D and when I asked to set up a meeting to understand the reason. To tell the truth, there was no reason. So the only reason can be that I asked for more than the base salary range. I didn't expect this kind of experience from Hotjar. Then I rated 0 and left my email but nobody from Hotjar contacted to me.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

Interview
The process was transparent and followed the stages described on the company's website. I've found the task to be taking more than 1-day and took a weekend to do it. The task was interesting and your time coding is well compensated by the Company.

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Hotjar in Aug 2019
Interview
The interview is a multi-stage process consisting of:
1. CV review
2. sending video recording of answers to several behavioural questions
3. technical interview call
4. multi-day task that is compensated, followed by a group discussion
5. offer
Even if the interview process was lengthy, the experience overall was really good from my part. The process pushed me a few times out of my comfort zone, but not in a frustrating way, just a bit challenging.
The technical discussions always revolved around real-life problems, which personally resonated with me, as opposed to "synthetic" problems and "quirky" interview questions just to see "how my mind works" that I got in other places.
Another huge win for them in my books is that they respect your time and effort. They offer compensation for the multi-day task that you need to develop in order to show off various problem solving skills and other competences. (I did several of these kind of tasks in the past for other companies, none offered to pay for my time, which seems to be the norm in the industry. :| )
Personally it was one of the best interview experiences I had so far in my career.
