I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at INISMO (San Francisco, CA) in July 2013
Interview
Most unprofessional interview I've experienced in last 5 yrs.
Was connected to this firm through a recruiter. Scheduled a 5pm phone screen.
Received a call around 5:30 -- half an hour late. (I'd said a hasty goodbye to my girlfriend -- who I'd not seen in 2.5 months -- to take this call.)
Opened by asking me about my qualifications rather than briefly overviewing the company and the role, as is standard.
Asked me what my ethnicity was (illegal!)
Told me the recruiter had said that I needed a visa (I'm a US citizen).
Upon describing two years of full-time, volunteer service (in basically a sales role), was told that "he was familiar" with this and it was "not relevant business experience." At this point I told him that this clearly wasn't a productive call and wished him good luck.
In summary: rude, unprofessional, and quite possibly illegal hiring practices.
