I am not sure how far in the interview process you got, but our usual practice for this position is an initial phone interview with the HR Manager or the Legal Dept. There is an interview questionnaire for this screening so that all candidates are asked the same questions, and the same information is afforded to each candidate accordingly. If the candidate qualifies for the next interview...it will be a face to face interview with HR Manager and hiring manager. Again, there are specific things we are looking for and questions we ask, depending on the position. We do not have an HR Assistant, so unfortunately I cannot advise on that part.
All of our positions are important as each has a specific role to fill with their unique contributions to the team. My apologies again for hearing you had an unpleasant experience.
