      Software Test Engineer Interview

      15 Oct 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at IQ Inc. in Oct 2020

      Interview

After applying, I quickly got contacted by a recruiter to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview went great and I felt really good about the opportunity. The recruiter even told me on the phone that he'd like to schedule a technical interview with me, and he proceeded to explain in detail what the technical interview would be like. We got the technical interview scheduled and on the calendar, and come 15 minutes prior to the start of the interview, I got an email from the recruiter saying that we'd have to postpone it due to the interviewers being unavailable. Okay. This was disappointing, especially considering I'd made special accommodations at my current job to be available for the interview. But the initial phone interview went well and I loved the sounds of the opportunity, so I immediately replied to the recruiter's email with my availability for the next week so that we could re-schedule. A week goes by, and I haven't heard a thing. So, I sent him another email following up and asking if he'd like me to send any more time slots for which I'd be available. Another week goes by. Nothing. Ghosted. Given how genuine and transparent IQ Inc's company and culture seems to be, I was particularly surprised that I was ghosted in the interview process... after already having the second round interview scheduled and on the calendar. I completely understand if they were interviewing another candidate and decided to go with them. But even a simple automated email stating that "we're sorry, but we went with another candidate" would've been nice. I spent a lot of time preparing for the technical interview, just to be ghosted. I guess IQ Inc's culture of authenticity and transparency doesn't fully propagate to its recruiting department.

Thank you so much for your response, we truly appreciate your feedback. At IQ Inc. we do our best to ensure that communication is provided in a timely manner to all candidates who are talking with us, and that transparency and authenticity shine through in every aspect of our business practices. It is clear that we missed the mark in our communication with you and for that we do apologize. Our Talent Management Coordinators are in regular communication with each candidate moving throughout the interview process. We want to make certain that each person feels valued because we have a genuine interest in their personal and professional success. We want each candidate to know they aren't a number to us as that is not our approach to recruiting employees. An email or phone call should be expected. Each member of the Recruiting Team does their best to not let situations like this happen. Again, it is clear that something was missed along the way when we were in communication with you and we are very sorry for the inconvenience it caused you. If you are still interested in discussing our open positions to see if moving forward still makes sense then we would love to hear from you. If that is not the case, we would still like to thank you for your constructive feedback as we are always looking to better the experience for each candidate.
