I interviewed for the Communications Analyst position and it was a one round interview. I was not screened for the role, my initial point of contact was with the recruiter who picked up the phone and called me one day to set up the interview, then went MIA in the interview process after that. The two individuals who interviewed me had zero knowledge/expertise as to what the job entailed, they only provided surface level answers as to what the responsibilities were since they were not familiar with this specific role/field, you could tell it was not in their realm to even be giving the interview, so any answer I had felt like it went over their heads, mind you I have a communications background and experience in this role. The interview was not formal at all, which was very surprising. I was not asked to provide an explanation of who I am or my background, etc. (typical interview questions), I was asked very basic questions not really anything relevant to the job. However, the interview was very easy going overall, not sure how you could pick the right person for the job due to the unpreparedness of the interviewees and the lack of proper questioning. Word of advice: One round interviews for such a job is not enough, prepared interviewees make the interview process much effective especially when they have a clue about what they are actually interviewing for since they “do this job part-time, whenever they have a chance to.” It would have been nice to actually meet with the CEO or President for the interview instead of the two ladies, given that it was one round. You could honestly tell they were just trying to get through the interview because they were tired and wanted to go home, not a good look. I don’t know if I would apply for another job with this firm or not given my experience, hopefully it’s better for others.
