I applied online. I interviewed at Ignite Mental Health (Cambridge, MA) in June 2019
Interview
It was an online interview. The minute it was clear that the internship was unpaid I believe it was clear for me that this position is beyond awkward to be in. They told me that it was unpaid because it is a non-profit organization, which is basically irrelevant. Non-profit organizations try to create this atmosphere that make it seem like it is all for the sake of goodness but it is not, people have to get paid if they are going to be spending days and days going back and forth between home and work. Only the food and transportation costs are 20 dollars per day in Cambridge, MA. I think I made myself clear, so I was not accepted for this great unpaid position.

Question 1
Would you be willing to work in an unpaid position?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ignite Mental Health
Interview
Very disorganized and frankly presumptuous—all interviews were scheduled last-minute (as in, literally the night before); expected you to be available for a four-hour bloc on a weeknight for a group interview, which I did, and then...no follow up within the promised timeframe. Eventually, I got a text message on a Saturday afternoon asking me to call that day. I was traveling, so I didn't even see it (plus, it was Saturday??). I reached out to them afterwards without a response. For a startup that professes to be passionate about mental health, there's not much respect for your time or dignity.
