I applied online. I interviewed at InMotion Hosting (Virginia Beach, VA) in Feb 2020
Interview
First I was given a tour of the building and told all about the perks the company gives you like parties and a gaming room that consisted of Nintendo only. They also told me that they give free lunch on Tuesdays only, shown the training room, and then I was lead to a room where I took a typing test and a mock desk help test, which is timed for 30 min. I was told the whole interview process took approximately 2hrs and that at the end if I was not picked, I would be given a detailed reason why. That did not happen. After the tests, I was taken to shadow one of the help desk techs until the people who were interviewing me were ready. I ended up having one person at the building who interviewed me on my customer service skills and one who interview via web conference on my help desk skills. I was told that they usually train you if you do not know much about Linux, or other help desk issues, so if I didn't know something, to just say I didn't know and we would continue on. I could tell the guy on the video conference straight up didn't like me just by his body language and tone. I did make it clear that i'm not good with acronyms but that I do understand the processes. So he asked and I answered, his questions were mainly about POP3 and other processes in email settings. He had a few questions on Linux and told me "knowing how to program in different languages is not valuable to this job". When I was sent an email saying that they were passing me up for another candidate, I wrote back and asked for my "detailed reason why." What I got was not detailed and went against what I was told during the interview. Their reason was I didn't know enough about email processes.

Our training program for new Technical Support Specialists is a total of 5 weeks. While it is meant to be comprehensive, we are aware that not all possible scenarios and situations can be predicted in training. Because of this, we do look for a base of technical knowledge in various areas specific to the role so our new team members can expand on that knowledge when they get to the training room. We absolutely understand that some people may not have had experience with everything that we're looking for, so we provide candidates with a study guide and the ability to participate in an online training program to assist them in preparing for the interview.
We’re sorry to hear that the feedback you received did not meet your expectations. It is our goal to give candidates an understanding of areas they can focus on as we’ve had success with applicants that have been hired during their second interview process. If you have additional questions regarding the feedback you received, please contact recruiters@inmotionhosting.com.

Over Skype, went smoothly. Interviewers asked a lot of questions that pertain to the job. The questions were basic in regards to the knowledge of a technical support agent. I was satisfied with the interview process.

It was ok, they ask you questions regarding your experience with linux, web hosting, and setting up email clients. They'd like you to know basics of each. They asked about the three things needed to set up and user an FTP client, and the three things you need to set up a email client. Also asked about DNS and basic linux and html code/commands.
