      Data Scientist Interview

      18 Sept 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Charlestown, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Indigo (Charlestown, MA) in Sept 2017

      Interview

A recruiter contacted me about the position. After three weeks, I was asked for my availability for a phone interview. Everything was very disorganized -- the person doing the interview, the type of interview (Skype vs. phone), the date/time, and the duration of the interview were changed multiple times. I understand that people are very busy, but it seemed unprofessional and disrespectful of my time. It's unclear if the flakiness was coming from the recruiter or the department I was interviewing with. They should revisit their choice of recruiting firms: I was (accidentally?) sent a copy of the email the recruiter sent to Indigo, and I was dismayed to see that he had blatantly lied about my experience (not just exaggerated, but stated I had years of experience in things I have never done). I also noted that although the recruiter told me they had reviewed my resume and wanted to schedule an interview in late August, he hadn't actually even sent them my resume until several weeks later. The phone interview itself was basically nothing. We didn't really speak about anything substantive, and I felt almost like they were interviewing me so they could get it over. I was turned down, via the recruiter, a few days later.

Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback on our Glassdoor account. As the recruiter at Indigo, I am sorry to hear you had a negative experience and apologize for the rescheduling of your phone interview. I appreciate the feedback regarding the external recruiter we are using to help fill this role – we have values around transparency and honesty and we want to make sure we are working with partners who uphold those values. I will be sure to do my diligence and follow up here. I will also be checking in with people at Indigo who may have been involved in phone screening and give feedback as our intent is to be thoughtful and engaged on every interview, and I’m sorry that was not your experience. Again, I appreciate your feedback!

      Application

      Interview

I was really excited about this position and the company seems do be doing really interesting work, but this process left a bad taste in my mouth and I have a feeling I dodged a bullet. They seem very slow moving and disorganized. The recruiter cancelled on me half an hour before our screening. Once we rescheduled (over two weeks later, which was the first available date), the recruiter didn’t seem that engaged in the phone call, it was awkward. I'm not sure if he wasn't interested in me as a candidate or what, but I didn't feel like he wanted me succeed. They promised to follow up with me the next week, but all I got was an interview process survey email three weeks later.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Indigo in Sept 2022

      Interview

The interview process included several stages. There was an initial phone interview that took several attempts to schedule. The person at Indigo cancelled last minute 2 or 3 times. Then there was a call with the hiring manager. Then there was a final interview process with several members of the team in a row.
