      Learning And Development Specialist Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at IndyGo (Indianapolis, IN) in Sept 2023

      Interview

Total of 3 interviews. The process took 8 weeks in total. The third interview did not seem necessary as it was with an executive level and this was a near-bottom role. The first interview was with the hiring manager and went great; learned more about the department and organization. What they were looking for. They seemed to know what they were looking for in a team member. Someone who could create training resources and present them when needed. The second interview followed the week after as virtual as accommodating with schedules. I met the hiring manager, their supervisor, and a director. Round robin questionnaire. Understood the role better as they seem to need someone to create resources as well as present them to employees. A week and half go by with no contact. Suddenly reached out for a third in-person interview with the executive of the department. I met only with the executive alone, not the team. A total of about six questions focused more on training methods, inclusion, and problem-solving. They seemed to have a specific public image they wanted for their team and I did not fit that image. Religion was brought up which seemed odd to me in an interview. Felt like there might be internal organization strife and it felt as if they wanted to know if I would follow them. Pretty much knew after the last interview I did not get it. A week goes by and the recruiter requests me to "officially" apply in their system. Final 8th week I got the decision.

      Question 1

If you are presenting new material in a session of 10 people how would you prepare for it? If someone questions you at the start of the session saying this is boring, how do you handle this situation? Have you worked with others in varied backgrounds? (ethnicities/age/cultural beliefs) What training methods, techniques, and processes do you incorporate into your sessions?
