      Logistics Operations Team Lead Interview

      18 June 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Instacart (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2019

      Interview

Phone screen followed by a 24hr take home challenge, half day of interviews on site with various team members. Overall the process was straightforward and I found the recruiter to be extremely responsive to my check-in emails. Interview questions were not difficult and I admittedly sort of blew it on a few questions, likely due to feeling less stoked on the role after 8 weeks passing between my phone screen and the on-site, and getting icy vibes from the hiring manager. I found the entire process took much too long and ended up getting strung out over almost 8 weeks before the on-site even happened. Everything moved along smoothly but just at a snail's pace. I was never contacted by the recruiter without first sending a check-in email, but always had a reply with good news and another invite within 24hrs. Made me feel as though they either A). don't have the staff required in Recruiting to properly handle candidates, or B). that I was a second tier candidate (which is not something you want your candidates to feel if you want them to accept an offer). I got less and less excited for this role every time I interacted with the hiring manager, and left the on-site feeling like I didn't even know if I could accept a potential offer from them. It was the most intensely quiet and depressing office I've ever been in despite the abundance of bright colors and free snacks. Everyone seemed stressed out, and growth opportunities seemed minimal within the first 3 years judging by the conversations I had with some of the interviewers.
