      Business Analyst Interview

      11 Dec 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Instacart (Boston, MA) in Oct 2021

      Interview

The content of the interview(s) were interesting and engaging. However, I could not have had a more terrible recruitment experience. First of all, I had to reach out to my recruiter for updates at each of the interview. - Initial Phone call (2+ weeks for response) - Take home: SQL + Case (1.5+ weeks for response) - Super Day (3+ weeks) There was an utter lack of transparency. At each leg of the interview process, I asked when I should expect to hear feedback. Each time, my recruiter did not contact me when that deadline passed. I had to reach out in the following days to get a response. My recruiter also went on maternity leave halfway through my process. That's understandable, but she had told me (1) There would be no meetings the week of Thanksgiving so I had to wait to the Friday afterwards to get feedback. That was fine with me, but when I reached out on that date, I was told they needed more time and was told to wait another week. Finally, the day came where my recruiter promised me a response by EOD. Needless to say I didn't get a response and had to follow up yet again. Finally, the day after on Saturday afternoon, I received a run-of-the-mill template response saying that they appreciated my time, but proceeded with other candidates. After a 2.5 month interview process, I would appreciate feedback beyond boiler plate language. Yes I'm unhappy I didn't get the job. But I'm mostly irritated by the poor communication and what I felt like was a lack of respect for candidates throughout the process. Literally in the time it took me to hear back from the Superday, I completed the entire interview process (Recruiter screening, SQL assessment, take home case, hiring manager interview, superday) at another firm and received an offer. The worst recruitment experience I have had to date. Though I really enjoyed the casework and chatting with the team, this was completely overshadowed by the terrible recruiting experience. If this is any reflection on the company itself, then I'm glad I dodged a bullet. Absolutely not worth the time, effort, and exertion.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      (1) Chat with team member (2) Take home (SQL + Case: Figuring out why there are negative customer/shopper experiences at a new warehouse) (3) Hiring Manager talk (Walk through Case + other brain teasers) (4) 5 30-minute chats. Behavioral + Additional case with hiring manager.
