Had a telephone screening interview via the RSA nominated recruitment agency which walked through a set of expected competencies and was an experience based interview. This was successful and got me to a face-2-face with the hiring manager and one of his senior team. The interview itself went back to the competencies but the interviewer asked very abstract questions, which may have been intended to probe experience but had little affect. It was as if he was waiting for an exact answer to a specific part of the role and was expecting candidates to use insight (or telepathic powers) to develop the answer. He took no notes, had no briefing in front of him. Was disappointed by the interview and knew I had not guessed what the right answer was ... feedback from the recruitment agency said exactly this.
