I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Inventables
Interview
There was an initial screening phone call, followed by phone call with hiring manager, then group video call with 2 customer support/sales team members. Interview stages scheduled about a week apart.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Inventables (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
Was reached out to by recruiter on LinkedIn on 12/8/21, I did not apply myself
30 min phone screen
1+ hour hiring manager phone call
Then about 6-7 other 30 min Google Meets with various people from the company - did not understand why so many people had input on my potential hire, some would even start the conversation saying that they weren’t marketers and didn’t know what to ask in regards to the actual position
I removed myself from the process as it was now 1/5/2022 & I had received two other tangible job offers.
From my understanding there were still more steps including a call where they ask you about yourself high school till present? Sounded like a long meeting but, I cannot speak from experience.

Question 1
Marketing related questions that had to do with growth
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate and value your input as a candidate. We try to work around the candidate’s schedule and move as quickly as possible. However, since your interviews fell across the holidays, members of the hiring team were out of the office at various times. Inventables puts great emphasis on cross functional collaboration so we want to include individuals who would be working closely with a given role, even if they are not in that particular department. It also allows the candidate to learn more about the team and culture.
We apologize that your experience wasn’t pleasant and we will use this feedback to improve the process moving forward. Our number one priority is to create a smooth and pleasant candidate experience. We appreciate your time interviewing and sharing your feedback. Wishing you all the best.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Inventables (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2021
Interview
I was initially contacted by a recruiter and very excited about the prospects of this position.
The process was about 3 weeks and went like this:
- 15 min phone conversation about my history
- 1 hour phone interview - mostly non-technical
- 1 hour interview with two developers
- 30 min phone conversation with HR
- 2 Hour technical interview with two devs. (this was a rather frustrating experience. - see the interview question below)
Despite having 3 other offers, and a not so great technical interview experience, they encouraged me to continue in the process, which required:
- Submitting a formal job application which included filling out a detailed work history for my last 6 positions (this info was included on my resume)
- The last step in the process was a 2 hour non-techncial video interview about the company and my work history.
all of the questions were essentially boilerplate: strengths / weaknesses about the work history that I had submitted.

Question 1
Technical Interview:
First I had to install some archaic screen sharing program, and grant it all sorts of permissions for my computer, Then they had me clone a repo (rentables). The application didn't run because the dependencies were outdated and it ran on a version of ruby that was nearing end of life. I was able to update the dependencies, and install the correct ruby version.. however, at this point, we had spent a lot of time on getting set up, and friendly questions about the weather etc.
The problems were essentially fairly trivial rails challenges. Make sure some minitest test cases pass related to date math. As presented, under pressure, and while being interrupted as I attempted to explain my reasoning, also without the ability to look up the specific query syntax etc, this proved to be a difficult and frustrating experience. Had this been a take home challenge more akin to normal working conditions, I think it would have been very easy to complete.
