J. Crew Digital Designer interview questions

The recruiter reached out to me a few days after I applied. All went well until we discussed compensation- the recruiter said that the compensation listed was not actually what they were offering. The recruiter seemed pretty nervous and stammered a lot while admitting this. I'm pretty sure since J. Crew is based in New York City, that is not in a sense legal under the city guidelines. I withdrew my application.
