I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at J. Crew in June 2019
Interview
The interview was with one other candidate. We both applied online. We were with the store director who was asking us questions and we took turns answering. It was probably about 45 minutes total, 30 minutes of questions and then 15 minutes for styling and our questions.

Question 1
Had to answer questions about how I would work with others/handle difficult situations that may come up then had to style an outfit on the spot.
Easy. 5 minutes or less and 3 questions tops. As long as you have experience with speaking to customers and handling relationships with co-workers you're good. Many people quit quickly but if you enjoy your space enough - a lot of people used J.Crew as a second job for the weekend or after their day job, they'd work a 5-9pm.

Question 1
What was one time a customer needed help with something and you aided them?
It was very personable and friendly in the back office of the store! I was asked questions about experience, personality, scheduling, why I wanted to work there. I got to meet a few other associates as well while talking with the manager.
