I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at JCPenney (Dallas, TX) in May 2013
Interview
Applied online on my campus career site. Received basic phone interview a week later. After that, I received a subsequent phone screen with two interviewees in which I was asked basic questions such as "why retail" and "why JCP" as well pseudo-case questions like "we're thinking about rolling out a new jewelry line, what would you consider?" After that I was invited to the final round. Day before is getting staff acclimated with the company. The final round is pretty straightforward. The day consists of two behavioral interviews with two staff members each, as well as a group case interview with some basic math followed by a group presentation. Know stock/sales ratio and what it means and you should be fine. Speak during the group presentation and make sure they know what you are thinking. The group case is very qualitative with the math being very simple. Show them that you can think outside the box.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at JCPenney (Dallas, TX) in Feb 2022
Interview
The interview process was standard 2-4 week process from screening interview to the final offer. Only 2 interviews, screening then interview with hiring manager. Standard questions for both. Both interviewers made me feel very welcomed and comfortable. I also received genuine feedback after the interview with the hiring manager.

I applied online. I interviewed at JCPenney (Dallas, TX)
Interview
It took a really long time for them to get back to me after applying, months, I believe. However, from there on, they were good at communicating with me. They flew me to Dallas and booked me a hotel for the interview. Had a panel interview and gave a case study presentation to a group of employees.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at JCPenney in Sept 2019
Interview
The interview process was very smooth! The panel interview was very conversational rather than strict question/answer. Everybody seemed very knowledgeable as to what is expected from this candidate and didn't drift directions asking other things that weren't really connected to the role.
