Interview
I applied online and was called within a couple of days for an interview. I had previously been employed by JCP and left on good terms, so I think that helped to push my application through to the interviewer's attention.
The Beauty Leader of Sephora interviewed me in a training room. She was friendly and outgoing. Most questions were geared towards sales and teamwork. She asked if I'd be comfortable applying skincare and makeup on clients. She said she was looking for a specific personality to complete her team. She told me about the compensation and asked if I had a few minutes to talk to the store manager.
The store manager repeatedly mentioned that the Sephora boutique kind of operated on it's own within the store. It seemed like it was more of a conversation with her than an interview. She did ask me if I tend to gossip and how I handle conflicts with coworkers.
Group interview. Interviewer asked questions and whoever wanted to answer first would answer and so on. Standard retail questions were asked like what to do in certain situations so they can see how prepared you’ve are.

Interview
I went through numerous interviews. The manager made me feel very calm and chill. I was offered a position pending a background check. I have no record so this should be a piece of cake right? Nope, my background check was taking seemingly longer than normal and every time I called to check in I was told it hadn’t come back yet/“probably backed up in the system”. Turns out that JCPenny has a 2 week policy where if the check doesn’t come back within that time they move on with another candidate. They never informed me of this and it went on for over a month before they did. Not only that, but turns out my background check did come back in time, they just “weren’t aware of it”. My advice would be to not be afraid to check in and keep the lines of communication open during the hiring process.

Interview
It was about 15 minutes long and they kept asking me to work the dock (stock) even though I had applied for sales. My background was and has been in sales so I was confused as to why she wanted me there. When I said no she then proceeded to ask me if I would be interested in a home decor position instead. Not the position I applied for.
