      Support Specialist Interview

      21 May 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at JCPenney

      Interview

I received a phone call 3 days after applying, and was given a phone interview right away. Here she asked the majority of the questions (previous job experience, why I wanted to work at JCP, etc.). I scheduled a group interview for the next day, and arrived 15 minutes early. No one else was there until about 5 minutes before the interview time. We started with stating our name, and a little bit about ourselves. Next, we had a team building exercise involving blocks, which was challenging, but fun. Then we each gave a one minute presentation on an assigned topic, and then we gave a one minute group presentation. Afterwards, everyone else was called into another room one by one. I was asked again why I wanted the position, and then brought out onto the sales floor where I was given 15 minutes to display items on a rack. Then, I was brought back into the interview room, where I was offered a job, which I accepted. I believe there were 2 of us hired. I was told I'd receive a call or email (the interview was today) to schedule the training date, which will most likely be day after tomorrow. I was also told that I'd probably start in a week! Everyone was extremely nice, and I'm excited to start!

C. Penney? -What would your previous employer say your strengths are? -What could you improve upon (what are your weaknesses)? -What are your future plans? -Are you going to college? -Will you be available to work mornings and weekends?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at JCPenney in Dec 2015

      Interview

They called me about a week after I applied. I missed the call but she left a voicemail to call her and schedule a time for the interview. I called back and arranged a time to come in. I went in and met with the lady and talked to her one on one. They were pretty simple questions that could be answered on the spot. We talked about availability and work hours. A good majority of questions were questions like "Name a time...". Like "Name a time you exceeded someone's expectations", "Name a time a customer was upset and what you did to calm them down". Those were pretty easy and I could come up with a good response almost instantly. There were a few questions were I couldn't think of anything so I made something up on the spot, but for the most part I gave an honest answer.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at JCPenney (Alexandria, LA) in Nov 2015

      Interview

I filled out an application online and was called the next day. I was interviewed by the Assistant Store Manager while the Human Resources lady sat in. After a few questions, it seemed like it was going well. I was then interviewed by the store manager while the assistant store manager sat in and took notes. The whole interview took about 45 minutes and I left with an offer that I accepted. I would suggest learning a bit about the company, because they do ask you questions about it. If you go in knowing that and what JCP's goals are, you'll definitely get an offer. Just know what you're talking about and be confident. Let them know what you can and can't work up front.
