I was approached on LinkedIn and had an informal discussion with the Civil team leader. We discussed my experience, future career aspirations and generally what culture exists within the company. I was very excited by the prospect of fitting into a younger, vibrant engineering business and we discussed salary expectations. I discussed what my current salary was and the hiring manager stated that they had all the information they needed and would discuss my background, salary etc. with the managing director.
To my delight, the firm offered 10% above my current salary.
