I applied online. I interviewed at Jewel-Osco (Alsip, IL) in May 2015
Interview
sat with the manager, cracked jokes, got the job. manager told me what he expected. I said what I expected. he told me about the store and his employees. gave me some background about himself.
The director interviewed me, and it was quick. I entered her office hoping I don’t stutter or lack confidence. My resume surprised her since I go to college, but I also do have retail experience. She first asked, “Tell me about yourself.” I did so and she just said “Yeah, I’m going to hire you.” After she asked what position did you apply to and I said general merchandise, but later I changed my mind to grocery. By the way, orientation takes so long!
The interview went very well. When the interviewer came out we talked, they got some basic background information and then I was asked my availability. They where then able to determine where I could be placed while taking the hours into account.
It’s very easy just be yourself. And be presentable and show up early. If you’re feeling nervous just breathe before going in for the interview and sum affirmation words helps as well
