I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Journal Technologies
Interview
Found through recruiter, did a phone screen and an in-person interview. Offer came two days later.
They MAILED me my offer package, and once I received, reviewed, signed, and sent it all back, I gave notice to my current employer.
The package included background, drug, and MVR screens (this job included travel).
Late in the afternoon THE DAY BEFORE my start date, I get an email from them that background and drug came back fine, but there was a problem with my MVR: I have a speeding ticket on my record, and one other petty traffic offense in the past year. They said this was a big problem.
They spent a day and a half going back and forth with me on what the tickets were for and wondering if their insurance would carry me (???) due to my two tickets.
TWO DAYS AFTER I was supposed to start, I get a call from the recruiter saying they couldn't move forward with the offer.
The thing is, in my experience, companies will certainly care if you have a suspended license in the past 3 or so years, but this is out of the ordinary. Accordingly, they should have verbally gone through this policy with me BEFORE sending out an offer and encouraging me to quit my current job. Had they done that, I would have talked about my speeding ticket, and we would have all realized this wasn't meant to be and parted ways, no hard feelings. But they didn't.
So now I'm unemployed, and it's all due to Journal's irresponsibility.
