June Media Associate Editor interview questions

I applied online and then had a phone discussion with the editor, which was basically him explaining the job. Then we set a time for me to interview with two of the other associate editors. It was very laid back and chatty with no serious or difficult questions. Immediately following I had a one-on-one interview with the editor I spoke with on the phone. We had a great conversation and ended it with discussing salary. He mentioned he thought their range was much lower than when I was asking but would check. Almost immediately after leaving I received an email that while my skills and personality were a good fit, they could not match salary.
