      Content Marketing Writer Interview

      2 Feb 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Barcelona
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Justinmind (Barcelona)

      Interview

was contacted via email to complete a writing test. After submitting it, I was contacted by the COO about a week or so later to do another face-to-face screening with him. Again, I was asked some pretty standard questions about my background, he explained what the role would entail, etc. He then asked me to do another writing test, and after I told him I had already completed it, he responded with "Oh, you did? They never tell me anything around here". This really stood out to me as kind of a red flag, displaying a lack of organisation and internal communication. It also had me questioning why I had even bothered to do the test in the first place, if it clearly wasn't being taken seriously. Overall, I thought the interview went well but I never heard anything back. I found this to be quite rude and unprofessional. To have someone put their time and energy towards passing through 3 stages of interviews and then not even having the courtesy to send an email with feedback. To me, this reveals how much (or little) employees are actually valued at this organization. I must admit that from the start, I could tell that something was just… off. Upon entering the office, there was an almost eerie silence and there didn't seem to be much of a positive office culture (despite being told later by senior management that it was really important that all employees really "integrate", which from the perception I got, didn't seem to be the case). Not to mention, this company has been running for nearly 20 years, within an industry that has been booming. They should be much bigger than they are by now—another red flag. I also find it strange that they put such an emphasis on content marketing yet almost completely disregard conceiving a proper distribution strategy. Not to mention, I’ve read some of the company’s blog posts and many of them are riddled with grammar and spelling errors. It’s a shame because the subject matter is quite interesting, but the overall execution is just messy. I’m grateful this opportunity fell through, as I am fairly certain that I would not be happy working there.
