      Analyst Interview

      2 Aug 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Stamford, CT
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at KAYAK (Stamford, CT) in July 2016

      Interview

Submitted resume online and was contacted by HR rep almost immediately. Quick phone screen a few days after where I was able to set up an appointment to come in and discuss the role. Met with multiple people in different roles at the company. Hiring manager was using his cell phone while I answered his questions about my experience. Took a while to receive an answer after following up, but eventually got word that they were "moving forward with another candidate". Would have been a positive overall experience had the hiring manager not used his cell phone during our 1 on 1 conversation.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at KAYAK (Stamford, CT) in Apr 2014

      Interview

Applied to a job posting online. A week or two later, an HR rep emailed me to scheduled a phone interview. A week after the phone interview, the HR rep called again and asked me to come into the office for an in-person interview. On site, I met with five different people individually. Eight days after the in-person interview, I was told that I was rejected for the position. The office in Stamford has a 'start-up feel'. A wide-open, barn-style building of a few floors. Definitely not the most professional interview process. The people were friendly, but ... 1) The dress ranged from kind of business casual to sweatshirts/jeans. The HR rep never told me this, so it did feel awkward being there in a suit and tie. 2) The hiring manager who I spoke with on the phone never met with me in person, even though I was told that she would meet with me. Kind of unprofessional and rude. 3) Wayyyyy too many people interviewing me. One person who sat down with me said, "I haven't even looked at your resume". That was very unprofessional on his and the firm's part. 4) No discussion about starting date, salary, etc. 5) No feedback following the interview, apart from the rejection eight days later. Although their business is doing well, they really need to step up the recruiting process. Simply put, it's not that professional, and definitely not the top of fast-moving process that will get them top talent.
