they sent out an online assessment for us to do. it was very difficult. i wasted a day to do but didn't even hear back from them. they should try and do better
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Kabbage (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2015
Interview
I got 1st phone interview with recruiter and 2nd with Chief Data Scientist, both was very friendly and gave me explicit and full overview of what company does and (which is more important) what is it going to do in the next couple of years. I described my recent experience as a Data Scientist got some questions regarding MapReduce approach and regarding NLP (Natural Language Processing).
3rd interview was on-site, it was 90 minutes programming task (Python). I did 2 out of 4 tasks, because I'm terrible at Python (still too many R in my veins). Next 90 minutes was an open problem, a dataset was provided and you need to build a classifier (binary classification problem) as well as explain which variables are most important as a predictors.
4th interview was with Kabbage heads and was all about me as a person.
A must say every one involved in the process was extremely friendly and I already felt my self as a part of the team. I saw people who dedicated to company and who love what they are doing and happy to share they knowledge and experience.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
MapReduce: Join two data files (customers, sales) and report top 10 performers.
Personality: What one single word you would write on your tombstone? (Love this one :)))), first of all you have to get used to the fact that you have a tombstone)
I applied online. I interviewed at Kabbage in Feb 2020
Interview
Applied in September 2019 only to hear back in February 2020.
First round was a 60-min online assessment - multiple choice questions on programming, statistics/probability, and math.
Second round was onsite - 1 hour with 2 data scientists and 30 minutes with the director of data science. First hour was mostly technical with a lot of resume questions and a short case at the end.
I had a good experience overall! My recruiter was communicative about any scheduling changes and gave me good feedback after my onsite. It's a fantastic company to work for and they have a great data science team.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Kabbage in Oct 2018
Interview
Had to undergo multiple phone, coding, and on-site interviews. It was intense to say the least. I think it is because they want to make sure:
1. Whether I would be a good fit at the company
2. Whether I would be a good fit for the role
3. Whether I would be in a position to perform
All in all, a super challenging interview.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
I was given a dataset and asked to perform EDA on it. It was a fairly straightforward process. I feel like that the time was very limited.
