The interview was quite bizarre for a company that raised $400M+.
I'm not sure whether they even have HRs. As part of the application process, I sent in a cover letter (that is a requirement, and I assume it plays a role in an initial screening). In a few days, on Sunday afternoon 🚩 I received a Calendly notification with no description or explanation of what it entails. 🚩
The interviewer was a hiring manager. He asked me about my experience from a decade ago. My initial thought was that it had something to do with Kallyope's field (gut-brain axis, metagenomics, etc.). But the manager told me that he knows nothing about this field. 🚩
When we finally reached the current experience the manager asked me about the algorithm behind one of the tools I was developing. Since he didn't understand the algorithm, I had to explain it to him in detail. Maybe I'm not too good at explaining things, but somehow the manager got visibly irked once I finished my explanation. 🚩
As soon as he understood the algorithm, he abruptly ended the call and said goodbye. 🚩
For the time being, I am still unsure of who it was, what position I was interviewed for, and what exactly the company does.
