      Account Executive Interview

      5 Aug 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Burbank, CA
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Key Code Media (Burbank, CA) in Sept 2015

      Interview

The interview process was fine. However, I was very specific when asking about their company culture and training program. They were dishonest in their response. I was disappointed they did not reveal honest answers during the interview and felt it unprofessional.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked what was my favorite course in college and what was my least favorite. Further, they asked if I'd like sports and which teams. Also, they asked about my previous employment and if I felt their management could do better and why. They also asked what was the hardest scenario I had to deal with in a previous employment situation. They also asked about any accomplishments worth noting and wanted me to to expand on that.

The interview process for sales reps takes usually at least three weeks. I'd say over 20 plus questions are asked of potential hires, including questions that survey their technical expertise, knowledge of financial selling, work ethic, and overall sales experience and skills. The sales position of a reseller is a tough job. Compared to a manufacturer's sales representative, resellers have to both convince the client to invest in the technology, as well invest in the technology with you. The top reps at Key Code Media make a very good living, have levels of flexibility to define their time, and a significant level of technical and managerial support to be successful. It is actually critically important to allow the potential hires to know as much about the job as possible, including compensation models, expense policies, types of clients, vendors we work with and any other type of question or concern about the business. We had a sales management position form 2014-2016 who I am unable to access all aspects of the interviewing, but can state that the turnover from that manager's hires were completely outside of the norm for Key Code Media's 16 years in business. If you like technology, have a solid sales methodology for activity, want to learn more about business to business selling skills for ROI, payback and IRR, we'd love to hear from you to discuss potential opportunities with Key Code Media. Presently, we have no openings for our sales team, but we've been expanding into new business markets, as well expanded geographies. I can safely say that hiring a rep who does not work out is a lot more expensive to the business and life is too short for a mismatch hire, for both us and the employee.
