      Associate Software Developer Intern Interview

      23 Aug 2023
      Anonymous employee
      Bangalore Rural
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kinaxis (Bangalore Rural) in Aug 2023

      Interview

Round 1: The first round had 40 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering different areas like aptitude, logic, and technical topics. The questions about math and logic were more about clever thinking than memorizing formulas. It's a good idea to practice problem-solving on websites like GeeksforGeeks and Indiabix to build confidence. The technical questions focused on predicting outcomes in code and object-oriented programming concepts. Round 2 (First Technical Interview): This round lasted 1.5 hours. The interviewer began by asking about me, my projects, and my internship experience. Then, they asked various questions about object-oriented programming, like the four main principles, polymorphism, abstraction, virtual functions, abstract classes, and interfaces. After that, they moved to theoretical questions about data structures and algorithms (trees, linked lists, stacks) and then some coding questions, mainly related to strings. Round 3 (Second Technical Interview): A 45-minute round with two interviewers. They started with introductions and asked about the database I used in my projects. They inquired about the differences between SQL and NoSQL databases and their typical applications. Then came questions about more advanced data structures like trees, binary search trees, and self-balancing trees. They presented a scenario where a sorted list needed to be maintained efficiently and asked which data structure I'd use for this. Round 4 (Third Technical Interview): A 1.75-hour round with two interviewers. They began with introductions and discussed my projects, including authentication. Then, they asked challenging questions about object-oriented programming, operating systems (deadlocks, scheduling), and more theoretical and coding questions about data structures. I was also given puzzles to solve. Round 5 (HR Round): This interview began by discussing something not on my resume. Then, the interviewer asked typical HR questions like how I fit into the company culture, my reasons for choosing the company, and why they should hire me. We also talked about the company's office. The interview ended positively, and I received the job offer. Overall, it was crucial to know myself well, stay calm, and answer respectfully throughout all the rounds.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

In the first round, I faced 40 multiple-choice questions, including aptitude, logic, and technical topics. The questions assessed my problem-solving abilities. The second round, a 1.5-hour technical interview, started with a request to introduce myself, followed by questions about my projects and internship experience. The interview covered object-oriented programming (OOP) principles, such as encapsulation, abstraction, inheritance, and polymorphism. Questions on data structures and algorithms (trees, linked lists, stacks) were also posed, as well as coding questions related to strings. The third round, lasting 45 minutes, involved two interviewers and delved into database choices, SQL vs. NoSQL, and data structure usage scenarios. A case study prompted me to suggest a data structure for maintaining a sorted list. The fourth round, lasting 1.75 hours, included questions about OOP, operating systems (deadlock, scheduling), theoretical DSA questions, coding challenges for linked lists, and puzzles. The final HR round involved discussing personal aspects not on my resume, fitting into the company culture, reasons for choosing the company, and thoughts on the office.
