I applied online. I interviewed at Kulite (Leonia, NJ)

      Interview

It was an onsite interview with hiring manager and staff engineer; in my case, I had two round of interviews the same day. On the second interview, the manufacturing manager gave me a circuitry test and asked technical questions. Expect 2 hours minimum.

      Interview

SUMMARY: + In Person Interview + No Phone Interview Available + Old School Process/Approach + Paper Driven + May Not Be a Good Use of Your Time DETAILS: I originally found their job posting on an internet job board. I had heard of the company from my time working in the aerospace industry. B/c the job board listing was pretty vague, I visited their website and the job description was just as vague and did not indicate the desired number of years of experience. I applied via email despite the lack of information on the job posting. About 5 weeks later, I received a phone call from HR to setup an interview, I asked for a phone interview, as their location is a 90 minute drive (2 hours with traffic) and I wanted to avoid an unnecessary commute. They declined my request and indicated that a phone interview was not an option and the interview must be done in person. So we confirmed a date and time and they sent me an email confirming that. In that email, they said, "Before you interview, you will be required to fill out our application for employment". A day prior to the interview, I called HR asking for a PDF copy of the application, so that I can be prepared for the interview and fill it out before my arrival to their building. Again, they declined my request, saying, "You have to fill it out when you get here." Upon my arrival, they hand me a tri-fold paper with pretty much the same information that was already contained in my resume. Additionally, it asked for me detail addresses and contact info of my previous employers and contact info for my references..... information that I was not prepared to provide. I was actually tempted to leave my cell phone in my car and did not want to bring it inside. But I was lucky that I did, otherwise, I would not have been able to write down the phone numbers of my references. And I had to leave the addresses blank of my previous employers b/c I did not know them. I probably could have Googled it on my phone, but I wanted to be quick about filling out the paper. I felt the paper was "old school" and indicative of a company not keeping up with modern times. I have not filled out a tri-fold paper application since I applied for retail jobs back in High School or early college years back in the early 2000s. I waited in a conference room for over 15-20 minutes. In the interview itself, the interviewer indicated that I "have a lot of experience" and that they are looking for someone who was more entry level. (I have over 12 years of experience..... Reminder, the job posting was vague and did not indicated how many years of experience was required.) I expressed my disappointment in the disconnect of what they were looking for and what I actually had in experience. I indicated that this easily could have been avoided with a simple phone call/discussion without a full blown interview. The interviewer and I both agreed that Kulite is very "old school" and averse to change/modernization. They even admitted that they are a VERY PAPER HEAVY company. To Sum It Up, I don't feel that Kulite values the time of the candidates or their internal employees. If you're looking for a half way modern company, you should look elsewhere.

      Interview

Met with 3 to 4 engineers / project managers. One specific technical quiz. Interviews were standard and the process was a bit tedious due to the fact that some of the interviewers would not show up on a timely manner. Otherwise, it is your typical interview. There was a couple questions asked about the website. You can easily answer the questions if you browse through the company website and read about the history of the company.

What are two different major types of sensors manufactured or designed at Kulite
