I had a screening call with a recruiter who turned out to be quite rude and talked down to me. During the call, the recruiter asked if I had any experience as a recruiting coordinator. I responded with a no, but explained that I had similar job responsibilities as an HR coordinator. The recruiter dismissively replied, "So you don't have any experience then," which I found rude and unprofessional. Despite this, she proceeded to ask for my compensation expectations. The job description indicated a pay range of $21-$35 per hour. I mentioned that I was looking for around $27, but the recruiter insisted, "No, we only pay $24."
A couple of days after the screening call, I emailed her to inquire about my application status. To my surprise, I received an auto-generated rejection email literally five minutes after sending my email. I don't believe this was a coincidence, and even if it was, a response from her directly would have been appreciated.
