Set up interview after initial screen with recruiter, which was standard Q&A (why, when, comp, fit, etc.).
SVP of Comms canceled the first interview same day but was rescheduled for a few days later. Hopped on a Zoom call only to realize she was taking the call from a bar. (not kidding). I thought this will be interesting... Apparently she was in the middle of filming videos of execs, so I immediately thought this may be a fly-by situation, which it turn out to be.
Exchanged pleasantries, described background, interest and fit for the role, which was literally a check box on every job requirement. That's as far as the engagement level went however. She really had no other substantive questions, so I knew it was a no-go, despite my earnest efforts to keep the dialog going. Who knows, it may have just been sexism or ageism, but I gave it a try. I did not sense much depth on the other end, so I'm glad I cut my losses and did not end up in a dysfunctional work environment with her.
