I applied online. I interviewed at Lake Lawn Resort
Interview
Directions to interview was very clear in an email from Human Resources. The interview itself was very basic, mostly about relevant experience, availability and only one or two actual interview questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Q: Tell me about a time you turned a bad situation with a customer into a good one
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lake Lawn Resort (Delavan, WI) in June 2016
Interview
I applied online. They didn't get back to me about it for about a month or two, to the point where I had actually forgotten that I had applied here, but I also didn't care too much about the place at that point so it was probably just another place on my list of places I had applied. Now, I am very happy that I did. It's a great place to work. I got an email back with some info and called HR to set up an interview. At the interview, the manager was prompt and personable. She was a little pressuring with how many hours I was expected to work (she said I needed to be available all holidays, when in reality the supervisors are understanding about needing some days off) although working holidays is required here. Then at the end of my interview, she gave me a little tour of the cafe and scheduled my orientation (a paid 8 hour chunk of a Saturday morning that goes over everything from sexual abuse to where the pool is). After that, I was scheduled for the following Monday!
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Do you have any experience working as a waitress or food server?
(The phone to order room service is in the cafe, so knowledge of how to answer phones is necessary for the cafe workers and you will most likely be cross-trained in room service)
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Lake Lawn Resort
Interview
Quick and painless, though I had already been friends with an employee. They mostly want to see if you can manage to put on a respectable public persona. I had no previous waitstaff experience, but that didn't seem to be an issue at all.
