I completed the application online. I met the minimum requirements, and I was invited onsite for the 1) Written Test, 2) Practical, and 3) Oral Boards. The process was scheduled to take a total of 2 days for applicants who passed steps 1-3. Each step is weighted. The applicants are ranked according to their scores. The applicants who ranked at the top (typically, the first 1-2 applicants) are asked to complete a detailed background investigation and polygraph examination that takes 90-120 days. Once an applicant completes and passes every step in the process, they remain on file for 18 months should any additional positions become available. This is a very demanding, time consuming, and expensive interview process! However, the process has been extremely well organized, and I've been very impressed. The LVMPD & Forensic Laboratory seems amazing. I hope I'm offered a position and get to be a part of it!
