I applied in-person. I interviewed at Latina Media Ventures in Aug 2013
Interview
Contacted by e-mail to set up an in person interview. Make sure to bring a portfolio of your print work to show the editor. It's always good to show your work to employers because it shows you have the skills they look for. I was asked what's did I want to work there and what type of reporting I like to write about. What skills do you posses that make you different than other candidates and the most important question: Tell us about yourself.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
None. It's more of a conversational interview and the editor makes you feel comfortable.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Latina Media Ventures
Interview
Did two interviews with this company. Everyone seems okay except for the director of the technical team who seemed like he couldn't wait for the day to be over and so he could go home. I do understand that some jobs may be stressful but who wants to work for someone who doesn't seem happy to be at work. A good leader should inspire people and encourage positive emotions from everyone around. However didn't get that impression from him. This impression also made me feel that the team was misguided as he didn't seem like he was in full control of the ship.
However the lead developer was a good guy. If you're not passionate about the products you will help build and would just like to mindlessly build stuff then I recommend this company, otherwise look elsewhere.
