      Senior Developer Interview

      26 June 2025
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at LeanIX in May 2025

      Interview

**My Profile** 6 years of experience in software development at Rakuten and IBM. **Application**: Applied through career websites and received an initial screening call from HR. **Screening Call (30 mins): With HR** Discussed my experience, skills, and tech stack. Checked if the Salary expectations and relocation possibilities. **Recruitment Process** : In total, there were **3 interviews**. 1 technical and behavioural interview, 1 technical interview based on a take-home assignment. 1 behavioural interview. **Interview 1 (1 hour): With the Hiring Manager.** It was a mix of technical and behavioural questions. Q: Why are you keen to join SAP LeanIX, and why is this role of interest to you? Questions on working style understanding of agile methodologies, TDD, etc. Behavioural questions of conflict resolution approach on handling failure and mistakes. 1 or 2 basic coding questions. Based on OOPS concepts, Java concepts, and Microservices. The response was quick after the 1st interview. Got a call from HR the next day explaining the next steps **Home Assignment + Interview 2** : **Assignment(1 Week)**: It was a design and develop an application. 1 week would be provided to complete the assignment. The assignment was not very difficult. The code needs to be submitted via Git before the deadline. **Interview 2 (3 hours): With the 2 team members and hiring manager** Why I used a certain design approach for the application development? Deep dive into the submitted code, mainly discussing the reason behind the implementation, and can it be better? Or how could it be better? In the last section of this interview, they had a live coding test where I was asked to pair program with a teammate and improvise on the submitted code. **Interview 3 (30 min): With Product Manager and Director** This was a behavioral interview. They tried to understand how I interact with product managers and what development process I am aware of and follow. They gave me their expectations for the role and asked about my expectations regarding the support from higher management. Mostly a vibe check interview to see if I fit into the company culture. Head back with the results of all the interviews within 1 week. Then I had the salary negotiation call with HR and was provided with the offer letter. Though the interview process was quick and took around 1 month. The time taken to send the offer letter after the process, after salary negotiation was finalised, was a lot ( around 3 weeks ) Overall process was great, HR was approachable, and all the interviewers were friendly.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at LeanIX (Bonn) in Feb 2025

      Interview

Everything went quickly and smoothly, taking no more than a month. Everyone was pleasant and open, and the home assignment was truly engaging to work on. Some questions were discussed with the recruiter over the phone, which led to minor misunderstandings during the process. Personally, I prefer receiving detailed information via email first, followed by a phone call for discussion. However, the overall experience was straightforward and well-structured. If you have a late interview, be aware that interviewers might seem less engaged by the end of the day. Even so, in my case, everything went well despite this impression.

      Application

      I interviewed at LeanIX (Berlin)

      Interview

I went through the following steps. 1. First phone call with the hiring manager. 2. 1 hour cultural fit interview with a senior manager. 3. Take home coding challenge. 4. 2 hours technical interview. 5. 30 minutes final interview with 2 engineering directors. Until the last interview everything went smooth, everyone I met were very positive, professional, and genuinely nice people. The hiring manager was calling for feedback after each interview. And then the final interview. Even though I confidently answered all the questions I felt a bit of an aggressiveness from the interviewer. He wasn't rude but I felt like he was asking those questions with an already made up mind. Which is fair but I didn't end the call with a good feeling. He told me that I'd hear about the result within the same day or latest the next morning. I didn't hear from them for almost 3 days. I emailed them about an update and received an "automated" email with a rejection after a few hours. I kindly asked the hiring manager for reasons behind the decision and offered time slots for a call, twice in 2 weeks. No one replied! I spent 4 hours in calls, and a whole weekend on the home assignment. All I got was an automated message that they choose continue with another candidate. I am so glad that it didn't workout. I don't need such work and a culture around it in my life. Be prepared.
