I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Legal Action Center (New York, NY) in July 2016
Interview
After submitting my cover letter and resume, I was contacted about a month after to have an in person interview with the senior staff attorney and the person supervising the position I applied for, who created educational materials and resources for those using the services provided by the Center. I arrived at the offices and sat in a waiting area until the conference room was cleared. The interview felt very conversational and lasted about an hour. It ended since a staff meeting was taking class in the room we were occupying.
While waiting I did see other attorneys and staff members who were very kind and greeted me.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Some questions I was asked included my comfortability working with people that were formerly incarcerated, former drug addicts, etc, as well as comfort with teaching and leading workshops with these individuals. This would include fielding phone calls and redirecting people that needed legal representation to pro bono partners
