      Inside Sales Manager Interview

      8 Nov 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Lightship in Oct 2024

      Interview

There is so much to unpack here but let me start off with this statement: I had a positive experience with talking to the team for this role. I didn't even mind the HireFlix part of it as that was pretty easy. The interviews were easy. I was asked to do a presentation which wasn't hard at all and felt confident about what I presented based off my experience in the industry. I had a lot of relevant experience with smaller companies and exceeding quota. All that being said, I was not offered a role. The reason: I was rejected because of someone's subjective view on my emotional state/confidence level and was told that I didn't seem confident enough or I was too nervous? I had gone through 6 interviews (4 separate conversations, 1 on-demand interview, and one presentation with a Q&A at the end). Essentially, I was not rejected because I didn't have the right experience, but because I was judged on my supposed emotional state/confidence level at the time. I am stunned because it's just so baffling to me. Their perceptions/judgements about me did not match reality. First off, it is impossible to judge someone's emotional state especially when you do not fully know that person. It's not black and white either. I felt confident the whole time during this process. Also, even if I had felt a little nervous, how is that a problem? It is normal to feel a little nervous, but that should not be disqualifying. If anything, it shows how much a candidate cares for the role they are being considered. You cannot judge someone soley based off their speech cadence, body language, or whatever mannerisms they do to get their point across. There has not been a point in my life where I went out of my way to judge anyone's confidence and write them off. I give them the space they need in order to speak with me and be heard. At the end of the day, results matter. Accomplishments matter. Experience matters. Stop judging people for things that don't matter especially when you don't fully know that person. It just seems this organization is in disarray with how they hire candidates and is confirmed from other interviews posted here.
