Lots of time spent on calls and emails with the internal recruiter. Got an interview with the hiring manager (Head of). He was the most disappointing Head of Procurement I've ever met. No ambition, no energy. Perhaps I got him on a bad day. What other procurement professionals (generally) see as mediocre or even poor goals to have, he appeared to celebrate.
I was probably a fool for turning up my nose to a top London salary for the easiest procurement job I've ever seen. Perhaps even more a fool for telling the recruiter that not only that I was not interested in the job, but that I could and would do 2.5 times better numbers with half the staff. (Not a bluff - industry standard benchmark.) Alas.
